Green Route

The route is eight-shaped and it covers 47 kilometers in total. It is divided in two parts with different lenghts; the longest one with 34 km, which is in the north of the reservoir, and the shortest one with 13 km, which is in the south. The three main accesses are placed in the Garaio and Landa Parks and in Ullíbarri-Gamboa village, with information points about the Route. The main section, which is in the north, from Ullíbarri-Gamboa to the west goes through the shore until arriving to the dam of the reservoir, going through the mountainous areas towards the Club Náutico Aldayeta and Nanclares de Gamboan village, until arriving to the southern section of the route: the Azúa Aqueduct. Then it turns to the North towards Landa, following the shore of the Reservoir. From Landa, it goes back to the departure point through the Club Náutico de Vitoria. The south section begins in Garaio Provincial Park, entering to Marieta through a flooding footbridge, and passing to the north section through the Azúa Aqueduct. Once this viaduct is crossed, the route goes southwards crossing the village of Azúa, until arriving a cofferdam in the neighbourhood of Urizar, which is the south end of the Route. From this point, surrounding the Mendixur Ornithological Park, which can be entered directly, the route goes back to Garaio Park through a wet zone with a high ecological value: the Garaio wetland.
